CRAIGSLIST IS THE SHIT!

light

Before I start this small blog entry, I just want to point out that: “CRAIGSLIST IS F@#$% AWESOME!”

I really needed a light meter and there’s no way I can afford the one I usually sign out from school (retails for $300 plus). Saw an older Sekonic model, L-458, for $40! Its not as fancy as the one I used to use, but dang, it meters ambient and flash! That’s alllllllllll I need.

CRAIGSLIST…..GET ON THAT!

cybersync (aka make my life easier gadget)

cyber

After months of debating on the pocket wizards or the cybersync, I finally gave in and decided to use my tax return on these bad boys. For the price of 2 pocket wizard tranceivers, I got a transmitter and three receivers and it still came up cheaper! Haven’t used them yet, I will write a detailed review/opinion when I shoot this weekend. YAAAAAY!

Reality TV

I am not the biggest fan of reality tv shows. As a matter of fact, I find them really annoying and plain stupid. But there’s one show that I watch weekly and I regret to say: it’s a reality show. Before you judge, I watch this show purely for other reasons and not for: “O-M-G! I can’t believe Tila Tequila just kissed a girl. She is soooo lesbian. Such a great show! What else is on tonight? HOLY COW! Paris Hilton is about to decide who her BFF is! I must call everyone and let them know that some life-altering moment is about to take place.”

I was introduced to this show by none other, Ms. Tricia Cruz (http://triciaacruz.tumblr.com/). The show is called “AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL”. Although it has its prima donna  moment and childish arguements, I gotta admit, and I absolutely do not care what you think, it is probably one of my favorite shows on television right now. No I’m not a pervert and watch it because of the women, I watch it mainly for its fine photography portion of the show. Nigel Barker is one of the judges and also one of the photographers. I just love seeing how each photos are made. If there’s one thing I need to improve in my photography, it would be directing or lack thereof.

Motivation

Snow in April?! Come on! I was just getting back to shooting on location, then this happened! Dammit! So I have no choice but to shoot indoors. Not really much of a studio person. I prefer shooting outdoors. There’s just so much more stuff to work with and be creative.

Days like these makes me so lazy and unmotivated. When I feel like this and need motivation to go out and shoot, I click on this video made by one of the most awesome photographers I follow, Zack Arias, from Atlanta.Truly inspiring:

Photoshoot with Satelites and Skyboy

Did a photoshoot  with Satelites and members of Skyboy Productions last night at the ever so cool…Walnut Studio. I get to shoot at the studio for one last month and I am trying to milk it as much as possible (so if any of you would like to get your photos done, don’t hesitate to contact me! info@sydneybelen.com or awaawe@yahoo.ca). Shot for like 4 hours and enjoyed every minute of it. If I wasn’t so tired from writing my essay the night before, I would’ve shot some more. Anyway, I wasn’t aware that I needed a permit to park in front of the studio after 10pm. Two of my friends got a parking ticket (sorry guys), fortunately for me, I kinda charmed my way out of getting a ticket if you know what I mean *wink*: “Oh please Ms. parking enforcer, I can’t get a ticket, my dad will kill me! I won’t do it again, I promise….look, I’m moving it right now!”

I am going to edit some of the photos later this weekend. Antonio Santiago is a graphic designer and he is also going to edit some of the photos. I’ll post them soon. Check you laaaateeerr!!!
